A literacy specialist who has taught students from preschool through college, Judy is the author of The Read-Aloud Scaffold: Best Books to Enhance Content Area Curriculum, the Children’s Book Corner series of resource books for teachers, librarians, and parents; and the Christopher Counts! series of picture books for ages 4-7. Empowering Families: Practical Ways to Involve Parents in Boosting Literacy, Grade Pre-K—5, co-authored by Susan E. Busch, is Judy’s eleventh book. She also has written a
monthly column on character education for LibrarySparks and published dozens of articles in Children’s Writer and the annual Writer’s Guide. Judy teaches graduate courses in literacy and writing for children. She is a freelance editor and writing consultant for educational publishers, business organizations, and individuals interested in writing for children. An advocate for promoting reading through community initiatives, Judy has received awards from the New York State Reading Association and the Niagara Frontier Reading Council, for whom she is the CTLE/Professional Development Chair.
